Computer Maintenance & Security
Create a 10 point System Checklist for a typical computer user: a small business owner who uses their computer for all of their business record keeping (accounts, clients, etc.), as well as personal use. The computer system is 3 months old, running Windows XP home, has an 80GB HDD DVD + CD/RW Combo Drive, 512MB RAM, 4 USB 2.0 ports and a 10/100 Networking card.
Read The Ten Immutable Laws of Security article and incorporate those ideas as well as others that have been discussed in class into the System Checklist.
This checklist should include (at a minimum) the following:
- Items to have on hand in case of a computer system emergency
- Plan for backup
- List of weekly, monthly and yearly security and maintenance tasks
- If an items need to be purchased, include an estimated cost
These assignments must be word processed.
