Complete the exercises below using a computer with Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Office installed. You may use your book and notes to help you.
- Format your floppy disk as an MS-DOS startup disk, use ??win as the Volume label, where ?? is replaced with your initials..
- Create a folder "WindowsFM" on your floppy disk.
- Create a folder "FontFun" on your floppy disk.
- Use your detective skills to locate the directory on the hard disk where the fonts are stored:
- Copy all font files whose filenames include "Bodoni" to the folder WindowsFM on your floppy disk.
- Work with the files in the WindowsFM folder.
- Make a duplicate of the font "BOD_B.TTF" Call the new file "THISIS.FUN".
- Make a duplicate of the file "THISIS.FUN". Call the new file "HAVING.FUN".
- Change the name of the file "THISIS.FUN" to "NOMORE.FUN".
- Make the file "BOD_I.TTF" hidden.
- Move all of the remaining font files (.TTF) to the FontFun folder.
- Make the WindowsFM folder Read-Only.
- Perform a diskette status check. Print the results of this check.
- Write two or three paragraphs (properly formatted and grammatically correct) comparing the DOS file management exercise with this one. Discuss similarities and differences in the capabilities of each system, the file systems used, and the tools available for manipulating files, folders and directories.
This homework will be graded based on your printed evidence showing the results of each step. (This will probably include listings of the folders, screen shots, etc.) On your printouts clearly label which steps are shown.
